About Avalon Nursing Home Eastbourne

This traditional Eastbourne Nursing Home has been offering a high standard of care since 1968 and is managed by Lynn Shingfield, Avalon' Senior Registered Manager who is well steeped in the homes traditions having worked at the home for 26 years.

The home has maintained its roots and traditions and the home has been owned by Gaj and Kathy Ragunathan since February 2007 and both of whom are very much hands on owners and continue to be custodians of the home.

Lynn Shingfield has been at the home for 26 years, and in 2014 ran a larger home for the company in Haywards Heath but has returned to Avalon since January 2017 and leads a team of staff of the highest quality, with the maximum commitment to the benefit of the client.

The home has registered nurses working 24 hours a day who supervise a team of care workers. The small size of the home ensures that there is a full staff team to meet the needs of the residents at all times. The staff team are well experienced in nursing care and many have been at the home for a number of years.

Staffs are continually kept up to date with regular training. Both Registered Nurses and care staff regularly undergo supervision sessions from the Matron to ensure the highest levels of care for each resident are always achieved.

Avalon's proprietors Gaj and Kathy Ragunathan as well a number of the senior staff have been trained in advance Dementia Care of Incare Services.

Medical care is provided by the local GP from the Park Practice Pool. The home has a retainer GP from the surgery who visit weekly or will do videocalls if needed. Referrals to specialist services and facilities can be arranged through the GP.
